Irini H. Giangos, 56, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Stamford Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Irini was born in Greece on May 17, 1959 to Theodoros and Gregoria Louridas Tournas.
Irini was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Philoptochos Society and the Church’s P.T.A. She was the director of the Church’s Sunday School and an advisor for the Junior Goya. Irini worked for many years at Roscco of Stamford.
Irini is survived by her parents; Theodoros and Gregoria Tournas of Stamford, her loving husband; Haralambos E. Giangos of Stamford, her two sons; Anthony Giangos and his fiancé Karina Perez of Stamford and Theodoros Giangos of Stamford. Her three sisters; Joanne and her husband John Rassias of Stamford, Valerie and Ilias Tsihlis of Greece; Eleni and her husband Peter D.
Tournas of Stamford; her niece Angela and her husband Demetrios Frazis of Stamford; her nephew Dimitrios Tournas of Stamford and her great-nephew Mihalis Frazis of Stamford, also survive.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Wednesday April 20, 2016 at 9:15AM and procced to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, for a Funeral Service to be held at 10:00AM, with Father Evan Evangelidis officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday April 19, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00PM with a Trisagion Service that will be taking place at 7:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Irini’s name to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905.
