Isabella Ada Catino, 87, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Stamford Hospital. She was born on April 14, 1926 in San Mango sul Calore, Italy to the late Teodoro and Enrichetta Maria Uva.
She was the oldest of eight children and lost her mother at the age of sixteen. She raised seven siblings, learning to be a mother at a young age and becoming the matriarch of the family. Isabella immigrated to the U.S in 1954, travelling on the Andrea Doria. She was an avid Church goer and was very active in the San Manghese Social Club. The light of her life were her two beautiful daughters and five wonderful grandchildren, to whom she provided wisdom and a loving touch in all that she did.
Isabella is survived by her loving daughters, Enrichetta I. Capozziello and her husband David of Fairfield, Mary C. Ressler and her husband Gregg of Shelton, five grandchildren Victoria, Brittany and Alexander Capozziello, Julie and Thomas Ressler, three sisters Giuseppa Uva Catino, Rosinella Fraschetti, Teresa Marena and two brothers Teodoro Uva and his wife Caterina and Vittorio Uva and his wife Leondina. Many nieces ,nephews , sister and brother in laws also survive.
Besides her parents, Isabella was also predeceased by her loving husband Ciriaco Catino, grandson Gregory and her two brothers Tommaso and Raffaele Uva.
Family and Friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 9:45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
The family would like to thank her caregiver Jadwiga Twardowska for the wonderful care she gave to the “Boss”.
