Jack �"Albert” Palmer, 87, a Stamford native, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Stamford Hospital. He was born March 12, 1920 the son of the late Gennaro and Rose Occulto Palmer.

Jack was self-employed with Palmer Brothers Construction in the 1950’s, which then became Jack Palmer & Sons Construction Company. In the late 1970’s he owned Stamps, Coins and; and in the 1980’s he owned High Ridge Variety. He worked at the Italian Center for the last twelve years. He was a Veteran of the US Marines having served in WWII, and fought in the battle of Palau Islands. Jack was also a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, St. Augustine, Council #41; a member of the Catholic War Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars; APO Elks Lodge 899; UNICO; the Republican Town Committee and Board of Representatives; the St. Leo’s Seniors; and a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Center for over fifty years. He was also a former President of the Italian Center, as well. He was on the Board for the CT. State Opera; a former Commandant of the Lock City Detachment of the Marine Corps League; and a former member of Stamford Patriotic and Special Event Committee.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Palmer of Stamford; his children, Mark Palmer of Trumbull, CT; Scott and Aida Palmer of Stamford; and Leslie Palmer and Viola Lovello of Stamford; six grandchildren, Mark Jr., Nicole, Jason, Justin, Amy and James; a brother, Robert and his wife Kathy Palmer of Melbourne, FL; two sisters, Carmela Prince of Stamford; and Dorothy Chirimbes of Delaware.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Patrick Palmer; and three sisters, Lillian Sansone; Anna Palmer; and Amelia Capoli.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F, Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:20 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2007 and proceed to St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery in Stamford.
