James J. Caputo, 91, formerly of Stamford and New Canaan, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2007 at William and Sally Tandet Health Care Center in Stamford. Born March 9, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Annette Caputo.

James had a lifelong dedication and commitment to his family and the Springdale Little League Community. He coached for 50 continuous years, starting in 1953, where he coached children, their children, and their childrens’ children. He was also a Veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. James was a retired Project Coordinator for Machlett Labs after 42 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carm Caputo; a daughter, Annette Peterson of Naples, FL; and a son, Carl �"Beezie” Caputo and his wife, Jeanne, of Darien. His grandchildren, Robert Peterson and his wife Darlene and their daughter Erika and son Austin of Litchfield, CT; Tracy Brady and her husband Edward and their daughter Taylor and son Jared of Newtown, CT; Carla Bick and her husband Jordan of Stamford and their sons, David and Drew; James Caputo of Stamford; Chelsea, Jennifer and Corey Caputo of Darien; two sisters, Ann Richichi of Michigan; Marge Caputo of Florida; and a brother, Gene Caputo of Florida also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, George Caputo.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Sunday, November 25, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Services and interment will be private.
