James Henry “Jimbo” Laganza, 71, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side after a long battle of COPD on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Stamford Hospital.He was born in Stamford on June 24, 1943 to the late Frank Joseph and Eunice Morse Laganza.
James was retired from the US Postal Service in Stamford in 2005, after being employed for 41 years. James had a love for watching on his 65 inch screen TV, NASCAR racing, golf, football and baseball.He also loved to hang with friends at Cove Island Beach, boating and anything that had to do with sun.He mostly cherished his family and spending time with them, cooking and listening to country music.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Traci Ann Estabrook and her husband Steve, a granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Estabrook, a brother Joseph Lewis Laganza, his longtime friends Sandra Remick, Pete Wiggins and Sue DeCarlo.
Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his brother Charles Torpey.
A funeral service will be held at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Mary M. Thies officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
