James A. Massos, 89 of Stamford, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on October 23, 1920 in Peabody, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Albanis Massos.

James graduated from Stamford High School in 1938. He worked for Laminated Shim of Stamford from the early 1950’s through the early 1970’s, then at Edwards of Norwalk through the 1970’s and retired from Pitney Bowes in 1988, having worked there through the 1980’s. He was also a past member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, having served on the parish council.

James is survived by his wife, Ellie Sellas Massos of Stamford; three sons, James A. Massos, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Pittstown, NJ, Bill Massos and his wife Andrea of Hamilton, MA and Peter Massos and his wife Maria of Royal Oak, MI. He is also survived by three grandsons, Zachary, Christopher and Aristotle Massos.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his sister, Effie Walsh.

A Funeral Procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 9:10 AM for a funeral service to be celebrated at 10:00AM at the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Friends may call of the Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM with memorial prayers to be said at 6:30PM. The Rev. Dr. Harry Pappas will be officiating the services.

In lieu of flowers , the family requests memorial donations be made in James’s name to the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford .
