James “Jim” M. O’Neill Sr., 80, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Monday October 13, 2014 at Stamford Hospital with his loving family by his side. Jim was born in Stamford on November 16, 1933 to the late John and Ellen O’Neill. Jim was a former employee of Getta’s Garage before purchasing the business in 1983 and making it O’Neill’s Garage. Jim also served in US Navy.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Virginia M. Harrington O’Neill of Stamford, his two sons; James M. O’Neill Jr. and John R. O’Neill both of Stamford and his daughter Cathy Ann Guglielmi and her husband Mark of Westport. His two grandchildren; Steven Siecienski and Russell Guglielmi also survive.
Besides his parents, Jim is predeceased by his son Joseph O’Neill and his sister Maryalice Chodazeck.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday October 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM and proceed to St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Rd, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive,Wallingford, CT 06492-1822 or to the American Diabetes Association (CT Chapter))2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06967.
