James F. Zurzola

James Fernando Zurzola “Jim”, 66, of Bloomfield, CT, formerly of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026.

Born on May 12, 1960, in Stamford, Jim was the beloved firstborn son of the late Maria (Lorenti) Zurzola and late Nicholas Zurzola. He spent his formative years in Stamford, graduating from J.M. Wright Technical School in 1978 before pursuing a career as an electrician.

Much like his father, Jim’s passion for music was unmistakable, and his remarkable ear for melody brought joy to those around him. He was rarely without his electric guitar, often sharing his knowledge of his favorite musicians. Above all, Jim cherished the moments he spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Jim was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Maria (Lorenti) Zurzola and Nicholas Zurzola.

His memory will be forever cherished by his loving family: his sister Rose Corcoran (Matt); his brother Mark Zurzola (Andrea); and his adored nieces and nephews, Erin, Matthew, and James Corcoran, and Olivia and Zachary Zurzola.

A burial prayer service will be held at St. John Cemetery in Darien on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 12pm. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home in Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jim’s memory to the Laurel House Resource Center in Stamford.
