Lifelong Stamford resident Janet Marie Casolo passed away on August 14, 2025, shortly after celebrating her 86th birthday surrounded by family.

Born on July 23, 1939, to Luigi “Louis” Michael Casolo and Antoinette Marie Genovese Casolo, Janet lived in a home built by her father in the Cove. She grew up in a tight-knit community, with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends as neighbors. Janet and her peers made up the “Covettes,” a circle recognized by their high school yearbook.

Janet was part of Stamford High School’s class of 1958, where she was known fondly as “Jan.” She spent her high school years involved in the Catholic Youth Organization, Italian Center and YWCA. She also enjoyed baseball, swimming and dancing.

Following graduation, she worked at Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) and her family’s insurance agency, Casolo, Friedman, Paspalis & Co.

In her spare time, Janet volunteered at Saint Mary Parish. She also loved visiting Cummings Park, playing cards and spending time with dogs, particularly her beloved Coco. In her final weeks, she even welcomed several four-legged visitors.

Family was most important to Janet, and she was beloved by all. She always partook in family celebrations and is remembered for her kindness and wit.

Janet is predeceased by her parents, siblings — Genarena Marie “Rena” Casolo Harrison, Ralph Michael Casolo and Louis Anthony Casolo Sr. — and nephew William “Billy” Harrison. Janet’s legacy lives on in one of her most cherished friends, sister-in-law Joan Casolo, and her nieces and nephews: Marilyn (Harrison) Yero, Cynthia (Casolo) Bucciarelli, Louis Casolo Jr., Michael Casolo, Mark Casolo and Tara (Casolo) Boogaerts.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held in Janet’s memory at Saint Mary Parish, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, followed by a burial at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien.
