Jean Maida
September 13, 1915 — August 19, 2012
Jean Florence Maida, 96, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 19, 2012. She was born on September 13, 1915 in Port Chester, NY to the late Nicholas and Philomena DiNapoli Guglielmo.
Jean was an active lifelong member of Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church. She was known for knitting scarves with “Fun Fur”, which she gave to her grandchildren, nieces and many friends. Jean also enjoyed cooking and baking especially her brownies from scratch. Although all her activities kept her busy, for many years she found time to work alongside her husband in his accounting firm.
Jean is survived by her loving sons Joseph A. Maida and his wife Caryn and Richard J. Maida both of Stamford, her loving grandchildren Michael J. Maida and his fiancé Kristen McCain and their son Joseph, Emily S. Ferro and her husband Michael III and their son Michael F. Ferro, IV and Elizabeth L. Fusaro and her husband Michael all of Stamford. She is also survived by her devoted caregiver Dawn Anthony.
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brothers Ralph, Joseph, Patrick, Anthony and Michael Guglielmo and her sisters Lucy Polese, Lillian Samela and Mary Macri, daughter in law Lorrie F. Maida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford with Msgr. Edward R. Surwilo officiating. Please check our website or call the funeral home(203-348-4949) for Mass time. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien.
