Jean Malizia

Jean "Allison" Malizia (Gallacher) 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in Stamford, CT, surrounded by her family.
She was born July 20, 1940, in Scotstoun, Glasgow, Scotland and grew up on the Clyde. The river area was affected by WWII, yet she spoke more of special times with family; attending Victoria Drive School where she loved painting, going to the dancehalls, beach outings, bike riding at Loch Lomond and seeing the Northern Lights.
In 1961, she accepted work as a nanny in the USA. It was to be temporary until she met the love of her life, Louis F. Malizia. Allison & Lou married November 9, 1963, at Sacred Heart Church. They honeymooned in Scotland & Italy, were married for 55 years, and she became a proud American citizen. She was the greatest supporter of her husband & children throughout their lives, loved her in-laws and extended family. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life, to them she was Mima. Their smiles & hugs were everything. She loved when her family was all together.
She worked at Rovens Curtain Shop and Stamford High School Cafeteria where she was well known and loved. She learned to speak Italian and loved cooking for her family, often making dishes for friends. After retiring, they lived in Palm City, FL and The Villages, FL. She learned to play golf, was a member of several clubs. Friends and neighbors were like family.
Allison was known for her strong, nurturing, and vibrant spirit. She loved travelling, volunteering, sports, dancing, the sound of bagpipes, Sunday crosswords, rainstorms, and a nice cup of tea. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son Louis O. Malizia, wife Kathryn, daughter Diane Mallozzi, husband Rosario, and daughter Angela Malizia. Grandchildren, Christian, Tarra and Sara. Sisters-in-law, Joann Venneri and Mary Malizia, many nieces, nephews, cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Louis F. Malizia, parents Robert and Margaret Gallacher, sister Grace Bryers, brother Robert Gallacher and her cat Buddy.
Several masses have been offered in her name in CT and FL. Private services will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Darien, CT.
