Jesus Torres

Jesus “Chu” T. Torres, 85, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018. He was born on August 1, 1932 in Puerto Rico to the late Castulo and Leonora Torres.
Chu served in the army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was married for 54 years to his childhood sweetheart and love of his life Lucy. In 1957 he moved his family to Stamford and started his career at Clairol where he worked for more than 40 years. Upon his retirement he would spend his winter months on his beloved island of Puerto Rico. But, at the first signs of spring would travel back to CT to be with his grandsons and reunite with his close circle of friends. Chu loved to entertain, whether it was at his annual backyard pig roasts or dancing up a storm at parties. The loss of his beloved wife 6 years ago and battles with illnesses slowed him down but we’re sure he is now reunited with his true love, and once again dancing up a storm.
Jesus is survived by his two daughters, Leticia Camacho and her husband Jaime of Stamford, Migdalia Torres-Arana and her husband Ricardo of Miami, FL. His sisters Tonia Torres Mazza and AnnaLuz of Puerto Rico. He is also survived by his three cherished grandsons Stefon, Alexander, and Jason Camacho. Besides his parents, Jesus is predeceased by his wife Maria L. Hernandez-Torres, his brothers Juan, Victor and Geraldo and sisters Edelmira, Maria, and Josephina.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 9,2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Benedict’s/Our Lady of Montserrat Church, 1 Benedict Circle, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford.
