Joan M. Intrieri, 82, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 13, 2018. She was born in Stamford on June 9, 1936 to the late Emil and Mary LaPia Scipioni.
Joan graduated Stamford High School in 1954. Following high school, she worked at Machlett Laboratories, became a homemaker for many years, and re-entered the work force after raising her children. She enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her granddaughter and was often out with her daughter and granddaughter shopping, dining or visiting family. She always stayed connected with her friends near and far by telephone. Also, she was very passionate about her dogs, and the birds, squirrels and chipmunks who visited her patio for their daily feeding.
Joan is survived by her loving daughter Cherisse Thoms and her husband Robert of Stamford, her granddaughter, Madison Thoms of Stamford, her brother Emil Scipioni of Orange City, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Jill Intrieri and her brother Bernard Scipioni.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
