Joan McElhinny, 86, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Stamford Hospital. She was born on February 22, 1927 in New York City to the late John and Margaret Brady McElhinny.
Joan was a secretary for GTE in New York City for thirty years before her retirement. She was a graduate of New Rochelle College, Class of 1949 and was a member of St. Mary Margaret Alacoque Church, Bronx, NY.
She is survived by a cousin Dr. McElhinny of New York.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Flushing, NY. There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 is honored to assist the McElhinny family with the arrangements.
