Joanne Lovell Russo, 80, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Friday November 28, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Joanne was born in Stamford on December 29, 1934 to the late Henry and Jane Stanashesky Lovell.
Joanne was a homemaker and her family was her life; she was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her casino trips, the Poconos and the cruises she took with her husband George and their friends and loved spending time with her sister-in-laws.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Denise Vartuli and her husband Anthony, her sons; George R. Russo, and Richard P. Russo, all of Stamford, her four grandchildren Dante, Michael and Nicole Vartuli and Angel Kyek and her great-granddaughter Hailee Rabbitt.
Besides her parents, Joanne is predeceased by her loving husband George Russo, her son Tony Russo and her brother Henry Lovell.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at 9:20AM and proceed to St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday December 1, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
