John Robert “Jack” Dugan, 79, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Stamford on August 27, 1937 to the late William and Lorraine (Lockwood) Dugan.
He attended local schools graduating from Stamford High in 1955. He was an army veteran, and a volunteer fireman at Turn of River Fire Department. Jack joined the Stamford Police Department in 1962 and retired the rank of Sergeant. He also worked for several years in security at the Stamford Hospital. Jack enjoyed studying the racing form and betting (modestly) on the races.
Jack is survived by his son John Daniel Dugan, his sister Patricia Leitch, his niece Debra Lande, both of Stamford, a cousin Ronald Bamber,of Nantucket, Mass.
Jack and his son John have both been greatly assisted with personal and professional advice by Ward and Marcia Cleary who have been valued friends.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 AM with a funeral service follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery, Erskine Road, Stamford.
