John Charles Smolinski, II ,72, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away at home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Stamford on December 10, 1942 to the late John Charles and Helen Grabowski Smolinski.
His family was the most important thing to him and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He was an avid gardener and took pride in his prized tomatoes. Becoming blind in the later years of his life never hindered his ability to overcome obstacles, rather he used those challenges to create new tools to help him every day.
John is survived by his loving wife Patricia Swatland Smolinski of Stamford, his loving children Kimberley Ann DeNardo and her husband Remo of Stamford, John Charles Smolinski, III and his fiancé Luzanne Louw of Stamford, his brothers William Smolinski of Stamford, Edward Smolinski and his wife Barbara of FL, his sisters Ann Marie Greene of Naugatuck, CT, Jane Krajewski and her husband Bud of FL and Paula Hartlett of Milford, as well as his grandchildren David, Michael-John and John IV.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a brother Teddy Smolinski and a sister Elizabeth Buckett.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Interment will be private.
