John Maguire Iii

John Henry Maguire III, "Jack", 72 of Stamford, beloved husband of Carolyn Becker Maguire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Yale-New Haven Hospital on June 27th, 2012. Born February 14th 1940 and raised in Greenwich to the late John H. Maguire, Jr. and Stella Zatorsky Maguire, he is survived by his sons Peter and his wife Kim of Pittsburg, PA. and Joseph and his wife Karen of Southbury, CT., and his grandchildren, Hannah and Joseph. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Maguire, and is survived by his sister, Jean Haywood, as well as nephews and nieces.
Jack attended Greenwich High School and Gallaudet University where he played guitar in their first all deaf rock-n-roll band. He graduated in 1967 with a degree in chemistry. A long time employee of American Cyanamid-Cytec and member of the Byram Vets, Jack loved fishing, classic cars and fifties music.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 29th from 5-8pm at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, Connecticut. Funeral will be held on Saturday June 30th at 10:00 AM at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Darien, CT., 1864 Post Road Darien, CT. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Avenue Northeast Washington, DC 20002, in his memory.
