John Migliazza, 83, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. Born December 19, 1922 in Girifalco, Italy, he was the son of the late Bruno and Concetta Migliazza.
He served as a Sergeant in the Italian Army for nine years, having also served during WWII. He immigrated to the United States in 1953. John was a long time employee of the City of Stamford and was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Marys Church in Stamford. He had a love for gardening and volunteered time at the lawns and flower beds of St. Marys for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Rose Pirio Migliazza of Stamford; two sons, Robert and his wife Donna Migliazza of Stamford; and John and his wife Susan Migliazza of Monroe; four grandchildren, Michelle, Bobby Jr., Cathy, and Johnny; two sisters, Adelina Canneto of Rye, NY; and Josephine Palaia of Stamford; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 10:20 AM on Friday, October 27, 2006 and proceed to St. Marys RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Darien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 4:00 8:00 PM.
