John Philippopoulus

John Philippopoulos, 81, of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 9, 1944 in Pellana, Laconia, Greece, John was a devoted husband to Paula Philippopoulos and a proud, loving father to his children Angela, Katie and Evan.
John was an honest and hardworking man who grew up in a village where his family lived off the land. He carried this love of the earth throughout his life, tending to his garden with great joy for as long as he was able. He was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed playing cards with friends, telling jokes, sharing laughter, and most of all, spending time with his beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life. The family finds solace in knowing that John’s legacy lives on through the love he shared and all the memories with his family that they will cherish forever.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Paula Philippopoulos; his children, Angela Philippopoulos, Katie Philippopoulos Pantazis and her husband, Panagiotis, and Evan Philippopoulos and his wife, Yanna; and his cherished grandchildren, Konstantina, Dinos, Stella, Yannis, Fanis, and George. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Efthimia and Georgios Koutroubis; his brothers, Panagiotis Philippopoulos and Dinos Philippopoulos; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nick and Denise Aivalis; as well as many nieces and nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Evangelos and Aggeliki Philippopoulos and his brother and sister-in-law, James and Joan Philippopoulos.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Stamford.
