Rev. Joseph S. Amato entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Stamford on August 26, 1932 to the late Bruno and Carmela Campese Amato. Father Amato was ordained on May 30, 1959 and was a Priest with the Diocese of Albany, NY until his retirement in 1998. Recently, father Amato also worked as a consultant for the Diocese of Venice, FL.
He is survived by his brother Bruno Amato of Stamford, a sister Elizabeth DePreta of Stamford, a sister in law Marianna Amato, of Ridgefield, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, father Amato was predeceased by his brother Louis Amato and his sisters Adeline Amato and Rose DePreta.

Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be followed at 11:30 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
