Joseph Dellaventura

Joseph DellaVentura,87, a former resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Norwalk Hospital. He was born in Stamford on December 22, 1927 to the late Joseph and Jennie Monda DellaVentura.
Joseph was employed with the City of Stamford as a Foreman in the Maintenance Department for many years before retiring in 1991. He was also a veteran of WW II, having served in the US Army.
He is survived by his loving children, Jo Ann DellaVentura of Bethel, Michael A. DellaVentura of Stratford, Diane M. DellaVentura Smith of Bethel, Sandralee M. Mayfield Ginicola of Norwalk, Lucille F. Mayfield Ofiero of Bethel and a sister Rose DellaVentura Giordano of Stamford and his longtime companion Lucy Scofield and her children Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his wife Faye Sagnelli DellaVentura,a son Joseph M. DellaVentura, a sister Antoinette “Dolly” Correa and a brother Peter DellaVentura.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM, with a prayer service to be held at 5:00 PM. Interment will be private.
