Joseph Eggert

Joseph F. Eggert, 88, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 7, 2016. He was born in Stamford on March 15, 1927 to the late Alexander and Josephine Kopp Eggert.
Joseph had the opportunity to try out for the New York Yankees, and became an avid Red Sox fan. Joseph then enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a loving husband and father, his family being the focal point of his life.
He is survived by his loving daughter Jo-Ann Waring and her husband Edgar of Norwalk, a loving son Joseph C. Eggert and his wife Kathleen of Bethel, as well as four grandchildren Stacey, Michele, Emerald, Jayde and four great grandchildren, Lindsay, Samantha, Abigail and Clara, and many nieces and nephews also surviving.
Besides his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his wife Frances Sterc Eggert, his brothers Edward, Charles and George Eggert, and a sister Theresa Drezek.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 12:00-1:30 PM with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 PM .Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joseph’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
