Joseph A. Fiordelisi, 75, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York. He was born in Stamford on August 2, 1938 to the late Salvatore and Carmella Coppola Fiordelisi.
He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Stamford and served in the Connecticut State National Guard Reserves. He was a graduate of Stamford High School, graduate of Southern CT State Teachers College and Sacred Heart University. He was employed by General Reinsurance for eighteen years before his retirement in December of 2012. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his daily walks.
Joseph is survived by his brothers, Ted Fiordelisi and his wife Mary of Stamford, Sal Fiordelisi and his wife Virginia of Fairfield and his sisters Emma Deluca of Stamford and Cleo Calo and her husband Vito of Stamford.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Louisa Fiordelisi.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM for a mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one’s choice in Joseph’s memory.
