Joseph Mossa
July 20, 1924 — March 2, 2013
Joseph Mossa, 88, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at Long Ridge of Stamford. He was born on July 20, 1924 in Minturno, Italy to the late Umberto and Vincenza Parente Mossa.
Joseph was employed as a Tailor with Frank Martin & Son for over 30 years, then to Darien Sport Shop retiring after over 20 years of service. Joseph was a longtime member of the Gravinese Mutual Aid Society. He was also a WW II Veteran, having served in the US Air Force, 774th Bombardment Squadron in the India Burma Air Offensive in Japan and China.
He is survived by his loving son Albert Mossa and his wife Nancy and his loving daughter Donna M. Murphy and her husband Art all of Stamford; five grandchildren Todd and Jessica Mossa, and Patrick, Katie and Caroline Murphy; his brother John Mossa and his wife Emelia of Stamford, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth “Betty” Ladestro Mossa.

Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Wednesdasy, March 6, 2013, from 4-8 PM A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11.00AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, March 7,2013. A private interment will be held at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
