Josephine �"Giusippina Agostino, 94, died on Thursday April 20, 2006 at Stamford Hospital of natural causes.
Born Maria Guiseppina Ierino in Hillsvile, PA on April 28, 1911 to the late Rocco and Angelica Femia Ierino, she grew up in Gioirosa Ionica, in the province of Reggio, Calabria. She married the late Rocco Agostino and had eight children while living in Italy. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1955, first living in Brooklyn, NY and then settling in Stamford.
A lifelong avid gardener, she is survived by her seven children, Carmela Totino of Stamford, Frank Agostino of Stratford, Lisa Murace, Dominick Agostino, Vincent Agostino, Joe Agostino, and Vera Casale, all of Stamford; two sisters, Betty Yervasi of Brooklyn and Marianna Sansotta of Argentina; 11 grandsons; 6 granddaughters; 17 great grandsons; 4 great granddaughters; 1 great great grandson; and 1 great great granddaughter.
Besides her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her daughter, Angelina Agostino.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 10:00 AM on Monday April 24, 2006 and proceed to St. Leos RC Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday April 23, 2006 from 4:00 8:00 PM. www.cognetta.com
