Juan Alberto Paragarino

Juan Alberto Paragarino, 81, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2026.

Juan was born on February 23, 1944, in Montevideo, Uruguay, the son of the late Ernesto and Juana María Silva Paragarino. Deeply proud of his country, roots, and traditions, Juan carried his heritage with him throughout his life.

He earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Precision Machine Technology and dedicated his career to the field with skill and commitment. Most of all, Juan was devoted to his family. He will be lovingly remembered.

Juan enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, gardening, and watching fútbol (especially Peñarol). Along with coloring, drawing, and tinkering. He also had a love for grilling, as well as making homemade sausage and wine. He found happiness in simple pleasures and time spent with those he loved.

Juan is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of over 60 years, Sully Garcia Paragarino of Stamford; his children, Mary Paragarino (Rob) of Bristol, Beatrice Dombroski (Glen, Sr.) of Stamford, and John Paragarino Jr. (Jennie) of Danbury; his sister Renee Quiroga; and his brothers Ernesto and Oscar Paragarino. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Mikey, Glen, Jr., Bruno, Jonathan, Jack, and Leonardo, his beloved dogs, Sparky and Benji, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Juan was predeceased by his sister, Maria Madalena Paragarino.

Juan will be remembered for his deep love of family, pride in his heritage, and the quiet joy he found in life’s simple moments—leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and love.

Family and friends may gather for a celebration of life at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
