Justine Grace LaPolice, 81, of Stamford passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 17, 2016. She was born in Yonkers, NY on February 19, 1935 to the late Manuel and Rose Barbone Vozzella.
Justine "Jut" moved to Stamford in 1942 at the age of seven and grew up on the West Side of Stamford on Liberty Street with her parents and two brothers. She graduated in 1952 from Stamford High School. After graduation, Justine worked for Condé Nast Publications. In the Summer of 1954, Justine was introduced to Denis, who would become her husband of 59 years. They were married in 1957 at Sacred Heart Church and would reside in Springdale for 43 years, where they raised their three sons. Justine began waitressing at the Italian Center in the 1970's and continued to waitress at various local restaurants, such as the Brass Rail. Justine was an avid and competitive bowler and won many tournaments throughout New England. Some of her other passions included Friday night card games, trips to the casino, bocce, bingo and her beloved Yankees. What Justine cherished the most was spending quality time with her loving husband, adoring sons, beautiful grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Justine is survived by her devoted husband of fifty nine years, Denis LaPolice of Stamford, her loving sons, Denis M. LaPolice and his wife Lisa of New Canaan, Christopher J. LaPolice and his partner Mark Mendelson of New York City and Terry LaPolice of Stamford, as well as her grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Lauren, Alexander and Zachary LaPolice. Also surviving is her brother Aleck Vozzella and his wife Judy of Pomona, NY, sister in law Linda Vozzella and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Justine was predeceased by her brother Anthony “Babe” Vozzella.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 3:00-8:00 PM.
