Katherine Drotar
November 28, 1920 — April 21, 2017
Katherine “Kitty” Kolich Drotar, 96, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 21, 2017. She was born in Stamford on November 28, 1920 to the late Anthony and Mary Yambrovich Kolich.
Katherine was a nurse’s aide at Stamford Hospital for many years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Columbiettes and the Croatian Fraternal Lodge # 616.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Reekstin and her husband Ron of Old Greenwich, Cathy Tedesco and her husband Joe of Stamford, Joyce Larobina and her husband Frank of Stamford and her son, Scott Drotar of Georgia. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Katherine is predeceased by her husband Edward M. Drotar in 2002, her son Stanley Jaroszynski and three brothers Anthony, Frank and Joe Kolich.
Funeral services will be private. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the Drotar family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Katherine’s memory to the Meals on Wheels program through Catholic Charities, 30 Myano Lane, Stamford, CT 06902.
