Katherine Macari
October 12, 1927 — May 17, 2010
Katherine (Kay) Larobina Macari, 82, passed away peacefully with her beloved family at her side on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on October 12, 1927 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Domenick and Mary Stramandinoli Larobina.
Katherine graduated from Stamford High School in 1946 and worked for the City of Stamford for many years in the Government Center as the Deputy Registrar of Voters. She was proud to be a life-long resident of Stamford and also very proud of her Italian heritage, being a member of the Lega Arena Dasá Society.
She was a kind and gentle person, beautiful inside and out. Her family was always her focus and nothing gave her more pleasure then being with family and family activities and gatherings. Katherine’s entire life was devoted to her family and close friends, which was her passion, her hobby and the essence of her being. She was a very loving mother, sister, grandmother and aunt.
Katherine is survived by her loving children, daughter Jani Macari Pallis and her husband James of Stamford, and son Anthony D. Macari and his wife Margaret of New Canaan; her devoted sister and best friend, Theresa Fedeli and her husband Dante of Stamford; and the apples of her eye, her grandsons Kevin and Brian Macari, both of New Canaan. Several nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Leonard J. Macari.
A Funeral Procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT at 9:10AM on Friday, May 21, 2010 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Clement RC Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien, CT. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Katherine’s name to the St. Clement Restoration Fund, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902.
