Kimberly Klayer Hart, 36, a lifelong Stamford resident, passed away on Sunday May 31, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and friends at her bedside after a gallant nine and half year battle with brain cancer. Kim was born in Stamford on February 7, 1979 to Robert E. and Mary Gay Gillespie Hart.
Kim graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fairfield University in 2001. While employed and undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments, she completed the two year requirements for her Master’s Degree in Health Administration. As an accomplished equestrian, Kim competed with her favorite horse, Carpe Diem “CD”, in numerous shows, winning many awards, honors and ribbons. After college, she qualified to become an EMT and volunteered her services. She will be remembered for her loving, caring and witty disposition. Some cancer patients ask “Why me?” , but Kim said “Why not me?”. Her positive, non-complaining attitude was admired by her medical caregivers. She volunteered her time and energy in New Orleans after Katrina and was also an Elder of The First Presbyterian Church.
Besides her parents, Kim is survived by her brother Christopher R. Hart of Boston, MA, her Aunt Elsie and Uncle Jack Hart, her Aunt Barbara Bartram and her cousins John, Scott and Todd Hart, Bill Hagan and Kalie Riordan.
