Konstantinos Valassis 71 of Stamford passed away at his home on Friday March 10, 2006.
Born in Sparti, Greece August 6, 1934 he was the son of the late Steven and Athanasia Bakes Valassis.
Mr. Valassis was employed as a butcher with Bongiorno Supermarket of Stamford having retired in 1993 after 20 years of service. Prior to his emigration to the United States he proudly served in the Greek Army. He was a devoted husband, father and patriach of his family.
Survivors include his wife Eleni Galanakis Valassis of Stamford, two sons Steven and Bobby Valassis both of Stamford, two brothers George Valassis of Sparti, Greece and Alex Valassis of Stamford, and a sister Anastasia Bilias of Stamford. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by his parents.
A Funeral Procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford on Wednesday March 15, 2006 at 9:50 AM and proceed to the Church of the Archangels 1527 Bedford St. Stamford for a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Fr. George Poulos, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Ave. Stamford.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday March 14, 2006 from 4-8 PM with a prayer service officiated by Fr. Poulos at 7:15 PM.
