Leona Deleo

Leona Maffei DeLeo, 82, a lifelong Stamford resident passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2013. She was born August 20, 1930 in Stamford to the late Philip and Anna Pironto Maffei.
Leona was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She was an avid reader and knitter. She worked many years as the Office Manager of Roberts Oldsmobile in Stamford as well as the Greenwich Municipal Credit Union.
Leona is survived by her loving husband of sixty one years, William F. DeLeo, daughters; Cynthia DeLeo Kapteina and her husband Barry of Stamford, Jayne DeLeo Bakis and her husband Tom of Stamford, Billie DeLeo Schock and her husband Rick of Stamford, Patricia Ann DeLeo Vakos and her husband Paul of Hamden and son Stephen DeLeo and his wife Tammy of Norwalk, a lifelong family friend; Alberta Vitti Bove of Stamford, and a “5th daughter” Catherine Mary Jost of Stamford, as well as her grandchildren; Brendan and Brett Kapteina, Ricky, Tracy and Randi Schock, Philip and William Bakis, Paul and Ali Vakos and Jake and Frankie DeLeo.
Besides her parents, Leona was predeceased by her loving brother Joseph P. Maffei.
Family and friends are welcomed to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday June 1, 2013 at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT is honored to assist the DeLeo family with the arrangements.
