Liliana Pappa, 70, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 5th at Stamford Hospital. She was born on January 3, 1944 in Minturno, Italy to the late Leonardo and Maria Lopiano. She moved to Stamford in 1971 to join her sisters, Rosa and Angelina and later married Aldo Pappa. A 40 year resident of the Shippan area, she kept busy raising three children and working at Pitney Bowes. When she wasn't in the kitchen, you could find her outdoors, tending to her vegetable garden and flowers, chatting up the neighbors and spending time with her husband and family, but was happiest surrounded by her rambunctious grandchildren. Her upbeat personality, distinct accent, and humor were infectious, making it easy for her to make friends wherever she went. She has certainly left her mark in the hearts of her family, friends, neighbors and anyone else she met along the way.
Liliana is survived by her beloved husband, Aldo Pappa of Stamford, her loving children, Michael Pappa and his wife, Rosemary of Trumbull, Robert Pappa and his wife, Shannon and Maria Pappa, both of Fairfield, sisters Rosa Sciaretta Pappa (Patrick) of Stamford, Vincenza Ciccadicola (Armando), Pia Lopiano, brothers Antonio Lopiano and Giovanni Lopiano (Tilda), all of Italy. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Elliana, Julia, Luca and Anthony and her many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Liliana was predeceased by brother, Pasquale Lopiano and sister, Angelina Lupariello.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 10:30am on May 9th for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11am at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford.
