Lillian “Lee” Colabella, 85, a resident of Glastonbury, CT and Boca Raton, FL, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2014 in Boca Raton, FL. She was born in Stamford on September 23, 1928 to the late Daniel and Jean Haight Santarsiero.
Lee lived in Stamford most of her life. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and cooking for friends and neighbors, who always looked forward to her thoughtful gifts. While living in Stamford, she enjoyed bowling and playing Bocce and belonged to several leagues. She was a member of the Sacred Heart RC Church Rosary Society and an honored Rosarian ,as well as being a devoted member of the Church, where she spent many hours volunteering.
Lee is survived by her loving husband Michael C. Colabella, Sr. of sixty seven years, her loving children Linda Elwood and her husband Bill, Michael C. Colabella, Jr. and his wife Theresa and Alan Colabella and his family. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jonathan, Melissa, Jeffrey, Michael, Jennifer, Joseph, Rosemary, Alan and seven great grandchildren, as well as her three brothers William Santarsiero and his wife Babs, Robert Santarsiero, Richard Santarsiero and his wife Kit and her sister Jean Sileo and her husband Daniel. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her parents, Lee was predeceased by her brother Daniel Santarsiero.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral & Crematory is honored to assist the Colabella family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lee’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Building, Memphis, TN 38105
