Loretta A. Barney

Loretta A. Barney, 84, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 at her home in Stamford. Born January 17, 1924 in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta Tracy Hurley.
Loretta was a registered nurse for St. Camillus Health Care Center for ten years until her retirement in 1995. She was a graduate of Merrill School of Business and Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She also retired from Stamford Catholic Regional School System.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynn A. Fischbeck of Peekskill, NY; and Tracy A. Barney of Stamford; a son, Joseph E. Barney of Bridgeport; and a sister, Kathryn Higgins of Delray Beach, FL. Seven grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George E. Barney.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, October 22 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:50 AM on Thursday, October 23 and proceed to St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.
