Lorraine Larkin, 89, a Stamford resident for over forty years, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Lorraine was born in Schenectady, NY on January 6, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Downey Rowe.
Lorraine was a reporter for the Schenectady Gazette and the Associated Press. She was also the editor of an in-house publication for the corporate office of Olin when they were located in Stamford. For about 17 years, Lorraine volunteered as a receptionist four days a week at Church of St. Cecilia in Stamford.
She is survived by three grandsons, Sean, Scott and Ryan Larkin; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond; two sons, Sean and Peter Larkin; and her sister, Doris Rowe.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday, December 12 from 5:00 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13 at 11:00 AM at Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will be private.
