Louis J. Casale, Jr., 81, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted life partner Marlene Fallas Jimenez and her family on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Stamford on March 29, 1935 to the late Louis J. Casale, Sr. and Giacenti Vitti Casale.
Louis was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1954 and attended J. M. Wright Technical School of Stamford for courses in blueprint reading and construction estimating. He also attended the University of Connecticut, where he completed all courses in Real Estate and held a CT Real Estate Broker’s License. Since 1954, he had been in the construction business and partner in the firm of Louis J. Casale & Son Builders.
Louis served on the Board of Representatives of Stamford, Public Works, Housing and Relocation, Urban Redevelopment and Wage Study Committees, and a Chairman for the Mayor’s Committee to investigate Stamford water quality and also Chairman of the Stamford Water Pollution Control Authority, the Environmental Protection Board, and the Stamford Sewer Commission.
He was a member of the Stamford Young Republican Club, former President and Vice President of the East Side Republican Club, the Stamford Civil Defense Auxiliary Fire Department, past Director of the Shippan Point Association and Shippan Merchants Association. Louis was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Building and Grounds Committee of St. Mary’s Church, Cove Neighborhood Association and Community Leaders of America, as well as the Catholic Charites Advisory Board and President of St. Mary’s Parish Council. He also served in the CT National Guard and had attended Artillery Survey School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Louis is survived by Marlene, her daughter Ana Smith, Ana’s husband Kevin and their son Lucas Smith, all of Stamford. Louis also had several cousins and their families living in Connecticut and other states. Louis will be remembered by all who know him as a loving and generous person devoted to taking great care of all the people around him and putting their happiness even before his own. Anyone who worked with Louis will remember how he committed himself to whatever cause or organization he became involved in.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 8:30-10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford.
