Louis D. Ursone, 91, beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather, loving brother, cousin and friend, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford. A life-long Stamford resident, he was born January 14, 1918, to the late James Peter and Adelaide Sementini Ursone.

Mr. Ursone graduated from St. John’s Elementary School and Stamford High School. He also attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. A veteran of World War II, he rose to the rank of sergeant. He served in the medical service corps in Great Britain, Fort Lewis, WA, and Fort Devens, Mass. and was honorably discharged. Upon returning to civilian life, he was employed by Yale & Towne and later gave 32 years of service to the State of Connecticut Department of Labor where he began his career as an interviewer and from which he retired as an Administrative Law Judge. An active member of his church community, Mr. Ursone served as president of both the St. Mary School Parent Association and The Holy Name Society and served on the St. Mary Parish Council and was a 3rd Degree Member of The Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Frank Ursone, and a sister, Theresa Ursone.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Julia Quinterno Ursone of Stamford and his children, Brigadier General Richard L. Ursone (Ret.) and his wife Ranae of San Antonio, TX; Joseph J. Ursone and his wife Eugenia of South Windsor, CT; Adele Ursone and her husband George Matteson of New York, NY, and Louis D. Ursone, Jr. and his wife Janet of Stamford. He is also survived by a brother Vincent and his wife Eleanor of Gibsonia, PA., eight grand children, five great-grand children and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday, June 5 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 6 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien.
