Lucy Bivona Morabito, 89, of Stamford, beloved friend, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was called home by God on Friday, November 1, 2013. Born in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore (Charlie) and Maria Catanzaro Bivona.
A lifelong resident of Stamford she was a loving and supportive wife of the late Joseph A. Morabito Sr. and the loving mother of her five sons. She worked for many years as a clerk at Union Trust, Fidelity and Shawmut Banks. A kind and caring women she was a friend to many and always ready to help whenever needed. She was a generous person who placed everyone’s well being above her own.
She is survived by her son Fred and his wife Phyllis of Norwalk, CT, her son Joseph Jr. of Stamford, CT, her son Michael and his wife Sue of Stamford, CT, her son Daniel and his wife Annalise of Trumbull, CT, her son Salvatore and his wife Maria of Monroe, CT as well as her sister Anna Simonetti of Miami, FL. She is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer, Lisa, Kristin, Mark, Megan, Danielle, Matthew and her great grandchildren Tyler, Kayla, Max and thirty five nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Lucy was predeceased by the love of her life and husband Joseph A. Morabito Sr., her sisters Antoinette and Katherina, her brothers Augustus, Thomas, Michael and Louis.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday November 8, 2013 at 9:15 AM and proceed to St. Bridget’s of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday November 7, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
