M. Jean Miller, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, September 16, 2007 at Stamford Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born April 26, 1924 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Leonard J. and Edith Coghlan Prater.
Jean was a life-long resident of Glenbrook and attended Stamford Schools, graduating Class of 1942 from Stamford High School. She worked for the Stamford Board of Education as an Account Clerk for twenty-five years, retiring in 1987. Jean was also a member of the Columbiettes, St. Augustine, Council #41. She enjoyed traveling, boating, frequent trips to the casino and spending time with her good friends at Cummings Beach. Her main love was her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.
Jean is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Rita Miller of Stamford; a granddaughter, Alison and her husband Jim Coghlan; a great-granddaughter, Lily Pearl Coghlan of Fairfield; and a grandson, Richard and his wife Shana Miller of Darien. A sister, Doris McManus of Augusta, GA; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, Roger (Buddy) Miller, who passed away on October 16, 1991.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 3:00 7:00 PM. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery.
