Maddalena “Lena” Giantomidis, 47, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Norwalk Hospital. She was born on November 5, 1971 in Stamford to Vincenzo and Palma Pasquino Ciardulli.
Lena will always be remembered by her infectious smile and personality. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had an amazing connection with her family and friends near and far, giving them encouragement and sincere advice. The family dinners and coffee night with her cousins, babysitting her nieces and nephews and relaxing with her dog Bella, watching reality TV, were some of her favorite times. Above all, the passion she had for her two sons and devotion for her husband, will always be unsurpassed.
Lena, facing a terminal illness, remained selfless, committed to the well being of her famiy and friends.
Lena is survived by her devoted husband of twenty three years, Bill Giantomidis and their loving children, Niko and Lucas Giantomidis, all of Stamford, her loving parents, Vincenzo and Palma Ciardulli of Stamford, her brother Vinny Ciardulli and his wife Joanne of Stamford, her mother in law, Kitsa Giantomidis of Stamford, three brother in laws, Tom Giantomidis and his wife Lumy, Chris Giantomidis and his wife Penny and John Giantomidis and his wife Athena, all of Milford. Also surviving is Olivia, Vinny Jr. and Luke and many more nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lena was predeceased by her father in law Nikolas Giantomidis.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 3:00-7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lena’s memory to The Whittingham Cancer Center, 34 Maple Street, Norwalk, CT 06854
