Margaret D'Acunto

Margaret A. D’Acunto, 84, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Born on May 8, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Poccia Journalist.
She was one of ten children, born in Darien, where she grew up until she married Frank Thomas D’Acunto on September 17, 1949. She was an avid reader, also enjoying pinnacle and bowling in her younger years.
Margaret is survived by three sons, Frank D’Acunto, Jr. & his wife Denise of Stamford, John D’Acunto & his wife Kathy of Florida and Thomas D’Acunto & his wife Cindy of Wilton; two sisters, Betty Gari and Katherine Freer both of Florida; a brother, Joe Journalist of Stamford; seven grandchildren, Robert, Frank, Bryan, Danielle, Jennifer, Tommy and Chris D’Acunto; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Frank Thomas D’Acunto in 1999; two sisters, Theresa and Vera; and four brothers, John Tony, Fred and Gene.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 4 �" 8 PM.
A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Friday, May 8 at 9:20 AM and proceed to St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
