Margaret "Peg" Keaney,73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Greenwich Hospital after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Stamford until her final three years living at Parsonage Cottage in Greenwich.

Peg is survived by her loving children, her son Frank J. Keaney, Jr. of Valrico, FL and his wife Marchelyn, her daughter Maura Keaney of Lorton, Virginia and her husband Pete Chisholm, her daughter Elizabeth Hubert of Sacramento, CA, and her daughter-in-law Milca Keaney of Norwalk, CT. Peg's greatest joys were her three young grandsons, Hugh Keaney, son of Maura and Pete, and Sean Hugh and Brian Keaney, sons of Milca and John Hugh Keaney, her beloved son who predeceased her in 2009. Her closest sisters-in-law, Nora Keaney of Yorktown Heights, NY, Peggy Heussner of Manahawkin, NJ, and Barbara Mulrooney of Stamford were treasured friends and sisters to her. Peg is also survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law, and cousins who she loved dearly and who filled her life with laughter and love.

Peg was predeceased by her husband Francis J. "Frank" Keaney, her son John Hugh Keaney, her sisters Mary Jane Marshall and Sally Papczun, and her brothers John "Bud", Robert, and Daniel Mulrooney.

Peg was the youngest daughter of Sara (Troy) and John Mulrooney of Stamford, who owned Mulrooney's Market in North Stamford. She attended Stamford Catholic High School and was graduated from Central Catholic High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida after her parents retired to Florida during her senior year. She returned to Stamford after graduation and worked for many different employers in Stamford including General Electric Credit Corporation, Southern New England Telephone, Courtland Gardens Nursing Home, Office and Services, Vestron Video, and the law firm of St. Onge, Steward, Johnston, and Reems. Her favorite work was in her last few years before retirement to Greenwich, as a dog walker to dozens of dogs in Stamford.

Peg was a longtime parishioner of St. Maurice Church in Stamford. She was grateful for over 30 years of sobriety before her peaceful death. The fellowship of Peg's 12-step friends was invaluable to her and she was honored to be of service to others. Peg was an insatiable reader who loved sugary treats, dogs, Ireland, the Catskills, and her family.

Peg's children would like to thank the hardworking staff at Southwest Connecticut Agency on Aging, CT Department of Social Services, and the caregivers at Parsonage Cottage, Nathaniel Witherell Rehab Center, Stamford Hospital, and Greenwich Hospital for the care, kindness, and support given to Peg in past years, and especially to the doctors, nurses, and aides at Greenwich Hospital who helped ensure her a peaceful and happy death with loved ones by her side.
