Maria Bakaj, 93, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Camillus Health Care Center, Stamford. She was born on July 23, 1919 in Ukraine to the late Michael and Anastasia Cap.
Maria is survived by her loving son Stephen Bakaj and his wife Emilia of Stamford and her loving grandchildren Andrew and Maria Juliana Bakaj.
Besides her parents, Maria was predeceased by her husband Julian Bakaj.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 at 9:20 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2013 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 24 Wenzel Terrace, Stamford at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Sarah Wells Trail, Campbell Hall, NY. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM. A Panahyda Service will take place on Wednesday evening at the funeral home at 6:30 PM.
