Maria Glander

Maria Glander, 82, passed away March 23, 2026. A former Stamford resident, Maria was born in New York City, NY on June 25, 1943, to the late James Glander and Louise Farina. She stayed in New York for some time until meeting the father of her children, John Roland. Maria and John had three kids, two sons and a daughter, between 1961 and 1968. During that period, the couple lived in California, Illinois, and Connecticut until they finally settled in Stamford in 1973. In 1995, Maria moved to Bridgeport, CT to help care for her 3 grandchildren: Amber, Maria and Billy. Always willing and able to help her family in a time of need, Maria moved to Pennsylvania in 2003 where she resided with her son, George Roland, and her grandchildren. In 2006, her daughter in law, Rosemarie, passed away, and she also began raising her 2 young grandsons. In 2014 they relocated to Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania where she resided until she passed away.

Maria was a person who was loved by many, and someone who would do anything to care for her family. She enjoyed many things in life, such as movies, games, casinos, and cooking. But what Maria enjoyed most was spending time with friends, family, and loved ones. She was a very special person who will be missed dearly and whose memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Visitation will take place from 10 AM to 12 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902. The interment of the cremated remains will follow visitation at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
