Maria Konstantinis (née Mentavlos), 87, of Stamford, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 28, 2017. She was born in Skoura, Sparta, Greece on December 23, 1930 to the late Haralambos and Eleni Mentavlos (née Prattas).
Maria migrated to the United States from Greece after World War II. She married the late Evangelos Konstantinis and together they started a family. Her joy was to provide for her family by sharing her abundant love and by making her favorite Greek food for all. She was a loving and caring grandmother (yia-yia) who cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and was loved very much. She worked as a seamstress and was an employee of Norma-Hoffman Ball Bearing Corp. as well as Electrolux Corporation for over twenty years until she took early retirement.
Maria was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Stamford.
She is survived by her loving children, Patricia Tsouris and her husband Lee of Fairfield, Robert H. Konstantinis and his wife Christina C. of Darien, her sister, Katerina Panageas and her husband Gus of FL and her brother, Nick Mentavlos and his wife Titsa of MA, as well as six grandchildren, Anastasia, Matthew, James, Angela, Daphne and Evangelos.
Besides her parents, Maria was predeceased by her husband, Evangelos Konstantinis, a son, Steven Konstantinis and two brothers, Demetre and George Mentavlos.
Family and friends may call at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, with a Funeral Service to be celebrated at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford.
