Maria Zappia

Maria Angela Zappia, 60 of Stamford, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on November 14, 1949 in Careri, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Diego and Elisabetta Aloisi Crea.
Maria loved to sew, working as a seamstress for many years for Minuteman Cleaners, in Greenwich.
Maria is survived by her husband, Rocco Zappia, Sr. of Stamford; two daughters, Elisabetta “Lisa” Jones and her husband Christopher of Somers, NY, Rosa Taulty and her husband William “Bill” of West Haven; two sons, Giuseppe Zappia of Norwalk, Rocco Zappia, Jr. and his wife Brigid of Stamford; five brothers, Angelo, Giuseppe, Giovanni and Domenico Crea, all of Italy, Rocco Crea of Australia; and four grandchildren, Alexis and Andrew Jones, Shane and Kaylee Taulty.
A Funeral Procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 8:50AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum at Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM.
