Our beloved sister and friend, Mariangela Julia Vavalá, known to all who loved her as Angie, remanded her soul to her "maker on Saturday, December 30, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was 59. Born in Dasa, Italy on January 23, 1947, she was the eldest daughter of the late Giuseppe and Concetta Anzoise Vavalá.
Most recent, Angie was the co-owner of Vavalás Imperial Food Market and worked at the Town of Greenwich Republican Registrar of Voters as Office Manager and Clerical Election Supervisor. Her careers included the Condemned Coffee House in Stamford, being a Dental Technician in Darien, working for F.D. Rich Construction in Stamford, Holland America Cruise Line of Stamford and Seattle, Washington, and Stamford Registrar of Voters as Republican Deputy Assistant Registrar of Voters, Notary, and Justice of the Peace.
Angies family and friends will remember and cherish their memories of her. She possessed a love for travel, the beach, art, photography and her endless long rides to her favorite lakes and especially the ones to nowhere in particular. Angie enjoyed cooking and having everyone over, usually for a big meal in a very small space or pulling everyone together for family picnics. Angies nieces and nephews were her children, Family came first!
Angie gave in other ways, with her love of music, for 18 years singing with St. Mary RC Church Choir. Angie was also part of the St. Mary Rosary Society, St. Mary Bingo, and chaired the St. Mary annual feast. When called upon, she happily planned, organized and worked toward a successful outcome; nothing less fit into her vocabulary.
Angies survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Concetta Jablonsky and her husband Carl; Mrs. Imperia Guarino and her husband Vincenzo; Miss Vittoria Vavalá; and Miss Eleanora "Lola Vavalá, all of Stamford. She is also survived by four nieces, Gabriella, Joella, Daniela, and Kristie; and two nephews, Joseph and Jeffrey.
In addition to her parents, Angie is predeceased by a sister, Teresa Vavalá in 1997; and a brother, Gasparo Vavalá in 1947.
