Marianna Scaturchio, 85, of Stratford, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Marianna was born in Arena, Italy, province of Catanzaro, on March 14, 1940 to the late Bruno Michele and Maria Antonia (Pagano) Lavorato.
Marianna immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1971 in search of a better life for herself and her family. With strength, courage, and endless love, she made countless sacrifices to provide for and raise her seven children, always putting their well-being above her own. She was a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored very much. They were her pride and joy. Marianna worked for many years at Pitney Bowes as a machine operator and later at Lord and Taylor as a sales associate.
Marianna is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Pasquale Scaturchio, her children Bruno Michele Scaturchio and his wife Stephanie, Salvatore Scaturchio, Antionette Pelazza and her husband Jody, Maria Francesca Castellucci, Giuseppe Scaturchio and his wife Adrienne and Rosa Antolino and her husband Michele, and daughter-in-law Ellen Scaturchio. She is also survived by her siblings, Rosina Inzitari, Maria Lavorato, Giuseppe Lavorato, and 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marianna was predeceased by her son Francesco Scaturchio.
Marianna loved and cherished spending time with and caring for her family. She will be sorely missed by all.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 9:45 a.m. and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
